Noteworthy

• ♣ August 29:  According to documents filed by the Obama Justice Department this last week, "no charges are either pending or contemplated" in the prosecution of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged al-Qaeda coordinator of the October 2000 attack on the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen that claimed the lives of 17 American sailors.
• ♣ August 21:  As promised/threatened, Iran's Busheher nuclear power plant is up and running, much to the horror of critics in Israel and the United States who believe/know the next logical step is nuclear weaponry, ala North Korea. As predicted, spokesman for the Obama State Department, Darby Holladay, has stated that this development poses no threat to anyone. We the people are still waiting for Holladay's boss, Barack Obama, to welcome Iran to the world's nuclear community.
• ♣ August 5:  After claiming that the scanned images (essentially naked pictures) of travelers going through airport security checkpoints would be properly and immediately discarded, the Transportation Security Administration, under the leadership of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, has confessed that tens of thousands of the extremely detailed images are being retained and stored.
• ♣ August 5:  According to a report in The Washington Post, General Motors, which took millions of dollars of federal bailout money last year (thus making the government part owner of its operation), has recently made $41,000 in political donations, $36,000 of it going to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, a charity with eleven members of the CBC on its Board.
• ♣ August 3:  The Landmarks Preservation Commission in New York City has ruled that the building currently occupying the site slated to host a mosque just steps from Ground Zero in lower Manhattan does not meet the qualifications to earn it historic, and thus protected, status. The mosque project moves one step forward, with an alleged unveiling set for September 11, 2011. The ruling has surely delighted NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NY Attorney General/gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, but so has it enraged the vast majority of Americans who consider this to be sacred ground (including former NYC mayor Rudy Guiliani, who has called the proposed mosque "a desecration").
• ♣ July 29th:  In the wake of a Clinton-appointed judge's gutting of the immigration law Arizona passed to deal with its widespread illegal immigrantion problem, National Review Online is reporting that an official memo being circulated in DC promotes the idea of “meaningful immigration reform absent legislative action.” Given that the vast majority of America opposes the amnesty of illegals (and supports the Arizona law), this administration and this Congress no doubt understand that forcing the issue without the people's consent is the only option.
• ♣ July 19th: According to a poll conducted by the Behavior Research organization over the past month, Barak Obama's approval rating in Arizona has plummeted to 28 percent. Apparently the Arizonans polled do not care for the Obama/Holder Justice Department's filing suit against their state for enforcing an immigration law that picks up the slack of a federal law that this federal government is ignoring. Apparently they, like so may other Americans, are also unimpressed by the condition of the nation's economy under this administration, the President's golf and vacation track record, and Obama's handling -- or lack thereof -- of the Gulf oil spill.
• ♣ July 7th:  Last week, NASA Administrator, Charles Bolden, told an audience in Cairo that Barack Obama gave him three directives when he took charge of America's space program. First, he was ordered to help inspire children about the glories of math and science; second, expand America's international relationships; and third, "perhaps foremost," said Bolden, "[Obama] wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations..." For obvious reasons, this latter directive has left critics scatching their exploding heads.
• ♣ July 6th:  A story the administration, the Obama/Holder Justice Department, and the mainstream lapdog media hoped would be forever buried has returned, thanks to testimony given this week by Justice Department official J. Christian Adams to the US Commission on Civil Rights. Testifying that it has been Justice Department policy to overlook cases involving minority perpetrators, Adams referred specifically to the notorious voter-intimidation case of Election Day, 2008, when club-weilding members of the Black Panthers were videotaped intimidating white voters with racial threats and the weapons they carried. Infuriating people on both sides of the political spectrum, the Obama/Holder Justice Department dropped the case last year, claiming "the facts and the law did not support pursuing claims."
• ♣ June 11th:  According to The Weekly Standard, the Obama administration, in an unprecedented move, has informed several foreign entities that it intends next week to join with the United Nations to establish an independent commission assigned to investigate Isreal, and only Israel, and its role in the flotilla incident in Gaza. Critics charge that it is inappropriate for the UN, with American support, to target a single country in the wake of such an incident, and it could one day result in the UN involving itself in our own internal investigations.
